To contribute to this conversation, the Urban Land Institute Los Angeles is initiating its premier Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) Summit 2010 to engage public and private sector leaders to discuss pressing transportation and land use challenges.

Public Private Partnerships
The panel will address best practices in public private partnerships (PPP) while emphasizing aspects that are unique to transit-oriented development. Using PPP is often necessary in TOD given the proximity of public land and transit. PPP also can enhance the development process by lowering entitlement risk and bringing additional funding sources, such as tax-increment or tax credit funding.

TED, TAD, TOD: A Case Study in Fullfilling Community Planning Objectives in Old Pasadena’s Transit District Westgate is the largest infill TOD site to be planned and built within walking distance of Pasadena’s well-known Del Mar Station. It exemplifies the City’s planning goals for redensification and place making in the South DeLacey Corridor immediately adjacent to Del Mar Station and Old Pasadena. The LEED Silver project has won planning awards from the AIA and CNU and is the first project to go through the City of Pasadena’s new Green Building Ordinance. The project will be presented by the project’s lead architect and master planner followed by an enlightening discussion including the project owner, consultants and representatives from the City.
