The Conference starts with the Short Course “Exploitation of geothermal reservoirs” in co-operation with experts from the Drilling School Celle on May 19. The Short Course gives an overview of relevant requirements and steps related to geothermal drilling. The afternoon offers four different workshops. Apart from an overview of international geothermal projects in Workshop I, Workshop II offers an ideal entrance to local representatives into the topic of geothermal. In Workshop III the focus is on the technical components of a geothermal power plant and the optimization possibilities of cycle processes. The enterprise Schlumberger uses the framework of the IGC 2010, in order to inform in its own Workshop about optimized reservoir investigation by Petrel and ECLIPSE.
After introductory keynotes on market development and perspectives of geothermal the Congress Day on May 20 provides four discussion panels with a podium of four to five experts. Topics of the panels are: risk mitigation strategies, seismicity in geothermal systems, challenges for financing and geothermal power plants in service. On May 21, field trips to geothermal power plants in Landau and Soultz-sous-forêt complete the programme.
