The new RRP Lead Paint Law took effect this past April, 2010. Are youLead-RRP Certified yet?
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) now requires all contractors who perform renovation, repair and painting projects that may disturb lead paint to be Lead RRP Certified. Common renovation and repair work activities including demolition, deconstruction, sanding, or cutting can generate hazardous lead dust and chips by disturbing lead-based paint, which are proven to be harmful to both adults and children. To protect against these risks, the EPArequires that all contractors must be Lead RRP-Certified as of April 22, 2010 in order to perform renovation, repair and painting projects in homes, rental facilities, child-occupied facilities, and schools built before 1978. For any contractor performing this work without the Lead RRP Certification, the EPA may seek penalties of up to $37,500 per violation, per day.
CleanEdison offers Lead RRP Certificationin partnership with NCHH, an EPA-accredited training provider. By successfully completing this course, you will become an EPA-Approved Certified Lead Renovator trained to follow lead-safe work practices. CleanEdison’s Certified Lead Renovator course instructs trainees to follow specific work practices to prevent lead contamination by adhering to 3 fundamental principles:
1. Contain the work area
2. Minimize dust
3. Clean up thoroughly
By completing this course, contractors will fulfill theEPA requirement and become Certified Lead Renovators in only 8 hours of training!
This course consists of 2 parts: a 5-hour online component and a 3-hour hands-on training component. Trainees may complete the online portion at your own convenience, as long as it is completed prior to the live training session. After completing the 5-hour online training, you will receive a certificate that allows you to attend the hands-on training.
